Since 2010 I am working for a Helvetas Bhutan project called "Leveraging and Preserving Bhutan's Unique Cultural Diversity." The project tries to encourage and support different indigenous and ethnic minorities in their efforts to keep alive their rich cultural heritage.
In Lotokuchu, Samtse, I began to document the unique cultural ways and traditions of the Lhops; at the same time I introduced the "Participatory Photo Project": interested people learn to use digital photography to explore and document their own cultural habitat and background.
In this way I try to build bridges between the old wisdom keepers and the younger generation, try to raise awareness for the precious value of traditional knowledge in a changing world.
